Hi, I’m Kay.

I build web applications and backend systems that solve real problems.

I'm a full-stack software engineer with 4+ years of backend, web, and mobile experience using .NET 8, Vue 3, React, TypeScript, Flutter, and React Native. I own features end to end, from database schema and API design to web and mobile UI, code review, and production release.

  1. Reached 15,000+ mobile users by developing, launching, and maintaining a customer-facing Flutter app for iOS and Android, contributing to both the Flutter client and backend APIs and shipping ongoing releases, bug fixes, and feature updates.
  2. Drove 2,000+ additional weekly trades by designing and building a customer rewards platform end to end across backend, web, and mobile, including points, loyalty tiers, product catalog, and order fulfillment.
  3. Cut 100+ weekly authentication-related support issues by implementing Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) with TOTP authenticator apps across API, web, and mobile, covering enrollment, verification, disablement, and login.
  4. Saved 20% on IT costs by replacing a third-party email platform with an in-house scheduled bulk email service (C#, Hangfire, AWS SES, S3), supporting multilingual templates, attachments, send-status tracking, and subscription preferences.
  5. Designing and implementing a real-time customer support chat platform across backend, web, and mobile, defining the WebSocket communication architecture, Redis Pub/Sub message routing, PostgreSQL data models, and end-to-end client workflows.
  6. Developed and maintained Laravel (PHP) customer-facing websites and REST APIs, including multi-region and marketing-content features; built Artisan commands for scheduled data synchronization and reporting.

General notes

  1. I’m a full-stack software engineer based in Los Angeles. I enjoy working across the stack, understanding how systems fit together, and turning requirements into working software.
  2. Most of my experience is in building customer-facing applications and backend systems, and I’ve recently been exploring AI-assisted development and tools that make software engineering workflows more efficient.
  3. Online, I go by catfly. It’s the handle I’ve used for years in games and across the web, which is why this site lives at catfly.dev and my GitHub is catflyx520.
